iPhone developer's Journey

That's it! I'm done with school for this year until september. Now the real deal begins. I've worked a lot on the website since the last post and it seems to give a little results. First, I've added a forum section so anybody, if they register (which takes about 10 seconds to do) will be able to post question or comments that we, Pierre-Luc and I, can answer personnally (My user name is iFrancois). So don't be shy and ask anything it will be a pleasure for us to answer by doing anything we can to give you useful informations.

Second, we finally bought our domain so that we don't have to deal anymore with that weebly newbie thing. it's not that costly so we can easily afford it. A ".com" gives us some more credibility and now that we have it we now can work on SEO (Search engine Optimization).

When I started this project, I tought being on Google was relatively easy. Tough I knew it wasn't as simple as asking the GoogleBot, I didn't know it was that hard and complicated. Here's a link that shows in detail how Google works: http://www.googleguide.com/google_works.html . It's pretty interesting if you want to create your own website because as we know, Google owns literally the internet nowadays. So to make us visible to the googlebot, we've posted links of the website all over the internet and this manually.  It took us some times but it finally worked. It's a big achivement since we did it in a couple of days because sometimes it can take up to 4 months and even 6 months before being found by the GoogleBot.

Even with all this work accomplished, no I did not forge about the central idea of this project :programming. I did start reading the book Learn to Program by Chris Pine. I have to say that this book is awesome. The author use the Ruby platform to show us the basics of computer programming. Since I still don't have my MacMini, I,m now praticing on Windows but it's okay since it's just to learn the basics. I've now read half of it and I'm looking to finish it probably tomorrow. I will probably read it twice to make sure I understood everything in the book. But as I can see, the only way to really learn programing is with practice. You will be as good as how often you practice. It's the only way to get better since it's pratically only logic.

I'm done for today. What's coming up for the next days is completing the book, waiting for the mac to arrive and continuing the work on the website. So still a lot of works ahead!

See ya!

Francois
